Sims Metal processes ferrous metal for resale through a variety of methods, including sorting, shredding, cutting, torching, baling or breaking. After processing, ferrous recycled metal is sold to end users, such as electric arc furnace mills, integrated steel mills, foundries and brokers.

Sims specializes in advanced mechanized processing plants, has one of the world’s largest shredders and specialist dense media separation facilities for recovering and separating non-ferrous metals and plastics. Bulk processing options include shearing, shredding and baling to prepare metal for sale directly to steel mills.

Wire chopping, or mechanical wire recovery, is a form of wire recycling that chops and granulates wire in order to separate out different metal commodities from non-metallic, foreign materials such as plastic.
