Design for Recycling ®
Sims Metal Management and its industry association – The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries – support the concept of Design for Recycling ® (DFR), the process in which materials are designed with their end-of-life and recycling taken into consideration.
Gone are the days when manufactures can only be concerned with the development of the best products, today they must also consider what will happen to that product as becomes obsolete.
As recyclers, we encourage manufactures and businesses to design their products and materials with this end-of-life in mind – whether they are producing consumer products or industrial building materials.
The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries advocates a public policy of:
